Madrid derby with no winner

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid 1-1

What happened between Real and Atletico Madrid?

LaLiga is on the last weeks and things are very interesting. Different from the last years, this season hasn’t still a declared winner. This saturday afternoon, the galacticos of Real Madrid had the best chance to take an important step to the title.

However, things didn’t go as expected. Even though this was a derby match and the opponents were a very tough they were clearly favourites in this game.

The match started with both teams trying not to concede rather than score. The first goal occassion was for Cristiano Ronaldo in the 30th minute. After a fast             counter-attack, Luka Modric found the portugese striker with a brilliant pass. Ronaldo released a rocket which flew past the keeper, but was deflected from Stefan Savić on the goal line. Great play from the montenegrin defender with a touch worth a goal.

The first half finished on a blank result with the hosts that tried more, but with no real danger. On the second period los blancos started with an extra engine. It took only 5 minute for Real Madrid to get the advantage. Like in the most important matches, it was a defender that found the net. This time it was Pepe with a great header that brought enthusiasm in Bernabeu.

From that moment Zidane’s players were more focused on keeping the result and playing with counter-attacks. The only danger for the host was as usual Antoine Griezmann. In the 84th minute Correa sent a pass, and Griezmann found the net! A goal out of nothing, and Atletico Madrid were level!

A shocking moment for the hosts who had no time to “punch” back. Very difficult situation and now all eyes are at La Rosaleda Stadium at 20:45 where the followers of Barcelona will try to get all 3 points to sit next to Real Madrid to the title race.
