Yesterday evening Southampton and Liverpool faced each other in another great game for EFL Cup.
A terrible gameplay from the guests. Southampton found the net only 20 minutes after the start with a real beauty from Nathan Redmond.
No doubt that the hosts controlled all 90 minutes. They had a lot of other goal occassions and it was only fate that helped the reds. It could go far worse…
“It could and should have been 2-0, 3-0. However, result is above all . We know that we can play better at Anfield, we still have chances.”
This is what Liverpool’s coach said to the newspappers after the game.
Meanwhile, the air in the other side was almost the same. Saints won, but their qualification is totally unsure. Southampton’s manager was very disappointed for all the missed opportunities his team had.
Loris Karius was with no doubt best player in the field for Liverpool. He hadn’t played in the league for a lot of time. However, in only 90 minutes he showed his skills and kept his team in the race.
Man of the match was one more time Virgil van Dijk. The Dutch centre-back was once again phenomenal. Great tackles and no chance for the opponent strikers to get through him.
